I never really thought of my home town as a vacation destination when I was younger and growing up. It was a beautiful place, and there was a nice lake nearby, but it did not seem like anything unique to me. I suppose that I sort of took it for granted, if you wish to know the truth. A lot of people do not know what they have until they really take a good look around. In my case, this occurred when I started to see signs for cottages to rent. They came up nearly overnight! One day, the only people I ever saw around were townspeople, and practically the next day, there were all these tourists renting cottages and cabins.
I had also noticed the exact same thing when I went on holiday in Santa Barbara, staying in Santa Barbara hotels. People would save money on paying the rates for Santa Barbara hotels by leasing a cottage for the entire season! I looked at the nightly rate at Santa Barbara hotels versus the season-long rate of the cottages, and it made a lot of sense.
Seeing all of these folks getting cabin rentals got me thinking. I realized that I had not ever done any overseas traveling, and that I most likely should while I'm still youthful.
