Does Your Blog Have Personality? Yes/No – Do This Instead!

As much as I’d like to talk more in depth about blogs I always like to start with the basics things first.. because paying close attention to little details and starting with the 1st step is what you want to do in the first place..

And whether you have a blog, or not, you should learn this first:

Creating a blog personality is a must if you want to maximize your blog profit potential and get long-term results (more visitors, more subscribers and more sales). So creating your blog personality is not an option.

And here comes the best part:

  • Creating a blog personality is easy. All you have to do is follow these three steps:

1. Study your niche (sub-niche) target market in depth. Research Google. Browse forums. Read blogs. Learn your target market ins and outs. Analyze your ‘perfect’ customer’s needs, wants, problems and frustrations.

You want to know exactly what you should write and to whom. Failing to do so is suicide for your entire blog and business. In fact, that’s the biggest mistake new business owners make when trying to advertise and market online (or offline).. and they keep wondering why they’re getting no sales or good results.

2. Your blog should contain an “About Me” page or a special, stand-alone part where you talk about you. Do it briefly. Here’s how I do it at Codrut Turcanu page. This page should contain your story, as most of your blog visitors would relate to your past trials, failures and successes.

And that’s good for you. Because that’s the second step of creating your blog personality – relating to your blog readers’ interests, problems and frustrations.

If you’re emphatic with your visitors, they’ll stick with your blog more than you’d think. And having loyal readers and customers is what everybody wants.

Here’s someone who talks with passion on her blog about her experience on making money online. Her name is Caroline Middlebrook from UK, and she uses the “emphatic principle” effectively..

3. If you really want to strike it rich online (not overnight though) and build a strong brand business around your blog, then your blog should have a main character which represents the voice of your online venture and the interests of your blog readers. To give you just two examples which I like most, here are blogs showcasing cool characters:

Tyler Cruz

Zac Johnson

These are animated characters, and I plan to create a similar character on this blog soon to add more punch to it and brand myself better. Stay tuned.

UPDATE – I’ve added the mascot. You’re already seeing it on the left side :)

Cheers,
