Twitter Business Tips for Busy Internet Entrepreneurs
This article is for Internet entrepreneurs who want to learn how to use Twitter for business but don’t have enough time.
Because so many people are using Twitter, it is only natural that businesses do so as well. It would be unwise not to join in where there is so much interest for information daily. So how are some of these companies using Twitter for business and what can you learn about this for your own business?
The Home Depot (@HomeDepot) uses Twitter not only to discuss company updates, but also to assist customers
… they actively answer, encourage, and seek out Twitter uses who may need assistance with a home improvement project, have experienced something great at one of their stores, built a great project they are sharing, and even unhappy customers so they can solve any issues.
Zappos.com has an entire network of Twitter accounts that are used for various purposes.
Many Zappos employees are using Twitter for business and personal tweets. The CEO of the company uses @zappos, where he often posts interesting quotes and also tweets about things he is doing. At present, this particular Zappos account has over a million followers (and probably counting). There also is a customer service Zappos account on Twitter, a company news account, and more.
Home Depot and Zappos are just two of many examples of using Twitter for business purposes. Some companies use Twitter for important updates, others use it to network with like-minded businesses and individuals, and some use it to provide good customer service. By keeping a good mix of interaction and promotion going on Twitter, businesses can use Twitter to their advantage.
Businesses can post links to their products and websites and also use it as a way to personally interact with customers and potential customers they may never have found otherwise.
Using Twitter for business interaction is just one more way to spread the word and also be helpful to others. Some may look at it as a form of free advertising. You can use these examples to help you discover ways you can benefit from Twitter for business yourself.
In my ‘Twitter Monetization Studies’ guide I share how regular folks and companies are making a bunch of money with their Twitter account. You get this at no extra charge with your ‘Twitter Max Challenge’ purchase.
Using Twitter helps you immediately communicate with your followers and new users are joining every day.
I believe that when you do post it’s important to post interesting content rather than constantly blasting out sales messages.

At the moment I only try to tweet about information I find helpful in developing an online business and so only message an average of once a week.

#Sean: hmm. are the people in your niche or competitors twitting just once a week? I used to do that, until I noticed I like to receive messages from the people I follow more often, even once a day would be ok. So I made a commitment to myself to twitt once a day, if I find helpful info, of course.
I shall try very much to take twitting to another level.

Twitter is one of those things that you have to think about how you want to use it first and then plan how to brand yourself on it. I am still in the thinking stage but mean to do it one day soon.
It’s just another thing to do on the long list to drive people to your sites.

#Sandy: keep it simple. twitter is similar to a blog and a list. you share info [tips, tricks, links, resources, etc] that your target market needs, wants and like…

Codrut, great blog post.
I love Twitter. It by far is one of the simplest tools I have ever used for business building.
In addition, it is a tool that I use for partnering, product launches and just plain and simple sharing useful data.

I joined twitter a long time ago. I have never been able to monetize from it. When the real business world is using it, I know there is money in the tweet. What is the best way you have found to earn from the tweet?

#Lanette: by making friends with people first. not by direct linking, you know?

I tweet to my friends all the time. Should I tweet a direct link? If so how often? Thanks for your input.
