I just built this site www.amotivatedmom.com
I would appreciate any feed back anyone would like to offer. I haven't quite mastered the linking, list building thing yet.
Thank you BJ

Hi BJ,

I looked at your site and I'd like to give you my feedback.

Your site is very wide for my screen. I use 800x600 screen resolution. In order to view the width of your page I have to scroll across.

You've created your site's tables by using number of pixels. If you use percentages instead (25% of the full width would be one table, etc.) then it should appear correctly no matter what screen resolution your visitors use.

Also, your images are not appearing to your visitors. (They appear to you because they're cached on your computer.) You didn't upload them to your server. They're residing on your hard drive. You need to upload them so everyone can see them.

For instance, here's the image path for one of them:

file:///E:/My%20Documents/Backup%20File%20For%20A%20Motivated%20Mom%20Website%20081307/A%20Motivated%20Mom%20BKG%20copy.jpg

Notice that it says it's on your hard drive E in My Documents, etc.

When you upload to your server it should look like yourdomain.com/images/name-of-file.jpg

I hope this helps.

Denise

There are a couple more code errors which propably come from using a WYSIWYG editor.

You should also

- add image alt tags
- h1 and h2 tags including your keywords
- add a disclaimer to your website

Hope that helps, let me know if you have further questions.

I like your soft-sell approach and think it will appeal to WAHMs, but it is not clear what you want your visitors to do (besides get comfortable and browse your site.)

You might want to invite them to take certain specific actions, such as:

1) sign up for your newsletter (even if you don't have one yet -- how do you plan to build relationships with them?)

2) look at the 2 programs you're involved in and tell you what they think about them -- or ask them to take one specific action beyond just looking.

3) create a reason for them to stay in touch with you. Could be anything, just something to "keep the conversation going."

Good luck! Let us know when you've made some changes, so we can go back and see the "after" version

Dear Nancy, Guido and Denise,

Thank you all so very much for your replies. I had no idea so many things were amiss , goodness. I guess I have my work cut out for me this weekend! I will post again once I have made all of the corrections.

Have a great weekend!
BJ

I can't blame you for the way your site looks right now,
my first one looked (much) badly.

It's obviously you're a newbie, overtime you'll learn how
to create better, professional looking web sites.

Study web copywriting. Instead of saying "welcome to my site"
which sounds boring and it provides no real benefit to the
site visitor, add a powerful benefit-oriented headline.

Always put yourself in your visitor shoes, would you stay more
than few secs on your own web site? WHY (yes/not) ?

Brainstorm ideas... then improved it...

Your site makes me click the close button in less than 3 seconds, it's nothing useful for me in there.

FACT: My site stats (from my hosting control panel) show that
more than 95% of all my sites visitors close the browser in less than
5 seconds.

Use autoresponders to capture leads and turn them into buyers.

I agree with most of the tips above my post.

Regards.
