There are many ways to attract traffic for FREE to your web site but I have compiled the top 3 here.
These are most likely strategies that you have heard of but probably not making full use of.
1.Article Marketing-write keyword optimised articles that include a plan that readers can take action on. Submit them to article directories. Don't just write a few articles. Write at least 30 for first week and subsequently, 2-3 each day.
2.JVs-broker JV deals through free membership, free reports, do cross promotion etc.
3.Blogs-get attention to your blog by commenting on other blogs related to your niche.
The fact that these strategies are free means that they will take you time. It is always that way: either you pay to free your time or you spend time to save your money.
The above could very well cost money. You can outsource article writing and blog posting.
So, the ball is in your court. Either spend time or spend money.
Your results won't change unless you do something and follow through all the way.

Writing articles is the key to my Internet Marketing strategy, but writing the article's only the beginning!
There are some crucial things to do if they're really going to do the business for you...
Make sure they contain popular keywords - so do some keyword research first - not all keywords will bring you results
Make them interesting and beneficial - Don't use plr articles unless you change them significantly - Be yourself!
Where you post them is crucial - look for article sites with Google Pagerank of 4 or above and look for site that give you stats so you can see how many links and click thrus you get.
Don't just put them on article sites. Add them to your own site, add links via blogs and forums, use social bookmarking etc.
I could go on... there's so much to promoting your site!

Hi Keith, nice tip.
What you mean with "popular" keywords?
I recommend my loyal customers to always target low-competitors
keywords, and forget about popular ones because it's hard to rank
even in google top 3 pages (not listings) with popular terms.
I'm curious, do you have a daily 'to-do' list that helps you promote
your article to all these web sites and web 2.0 services you mentioned?
How exactly you do? Give us more step by step details.

In spite of what you may have heard there is no secret formula to the concept of article writing, other than it requires a lot of work, because the results of any article marketing strategy is dependent on massive article writing action.
So then, a better question would be - what is the secret to getting the work and massive action done then?

A link or a back link is like a vote for your website. Imagine you are a candidate in an election. You would like to get votes only from your own constituency in order to be elected. Any vote from outside your constituency would carry no value in your election.
In the same way, for elevation of your website for a high search engine page rank, your website should get links—one way links or back links-- from the sites which are relevant and complementary to your site.
It is quite natural that your competitors will not place links to your site, but sites offering supplementary content to yours will like to reciprocate. But they will provide back links only if your site has worthwhile, informative and intelligent content so that the visitors directed by their links should get answers to their questions. They must find what they are looking for.

If you are sure of the rich quality of your content, you may contact the webmasters of the sites in the same field as yours to consider your site for placing links to it in their directories. You must, however, place links to their site in your website before writing to them. If your site provides valuable content, a mere glimpse will bring in the desired links. Coaxing and cajoling the webmasters or buying links will serve no purpose.
