Do Not Check Email First Thing In the Morning!
I am guilty for not implementing my own advice. Blame it on the human nature!
The tip I’m about to share with you is EASY, but please don’t neglect its simplicity.
And if you test it in your business, your entire life will become much better!
While I was reading through a post on Productive Flourishing BLOG this paragraph pulled me in…
“Doing so starts your day off responding to external projects and actions rather than advancing internal projects. Do your work first and make other people wait their turn.”
The “aha” moment just come into place…
So I’m asking myself: why we didn’t learn yet to work on our stuff first, and take care of e-mails later?
I’m sure that ALL the marketers, bloggers and affiliates out there can’t resist the morning e-mail checking temptation…
What about you?
Do you check e-mail first thing in the morning? What do you plan to avoid this ASAP?
Are you aware that if you check e-mail first thing in the morning, you’ll not fully focus on your project and dilute your “productive” time on non-income generating tasks?
Hint: e-mail checking in itself is not an income generating activity, unless someone pays you for it!
P.S. Stay tuned for a VIDEO on a red-hot affiliate marketing topic. It’s coming soon! You want to join the list or RSS feed to be the first to watch it…

Yeah dude….I tried to tell folks this a while back, and you’re right…it’s much easier said than done! I do it for the most part, but sometimes I end up getting caught back up in the emails lol.
It really changes your productive time man…to actually getting stuff done. I agree dude.

@Normal Joe, maybe you could come up with a guest post (on this blog) talking about this major problem?

I cannot resist looking at my PayPal email every 10 minutes. I just can’t. I love seeing sales notifications, it is more addictive than drinking or smoking. I really have to stop so I can concentrate on making more products

I have to leave socialbookmarking until evening as well because it can suck you in. Before you know it, half the day is gone and you haven’t done anything new.

I know exactly what you mean! I sit at home and struggle to stay productive. I have found that when I don’t check my email, I get the most stuff done. (and my analytics account, and my statcounter account, and my 15 YouTube accounts, and my FaceBook, and my MySpace)

You are right. I daily first read the online newspapers and this is more important for me than checking my business and earning emails.

What you’re saying makes sense but I can’t imagine not starting of my day checking the email, I always feel like once i get that out of the way I can get back to doing real work.

Hi,
I totally agree that this sickness of checking email take time, as I always find something that grab my interest, so I click the link, read, sign up – repeat. And guess what, suddenly the whole day has gone. I know, this is not productive…
And this is a neverending circle if one do not break it… I know, this I learned me from Codrut to do,, but yes, I am a human and I am qurious… but… I know I have to decide me fore one thing and give focus on that… Strange that one always know what is best, but do another thing… or choose to do things that are not productive… I understand it is in the human nature to do so…
I know I have to unsubscribe from some lists as it take too much time to read all newsletter and email…
I think I am not alone in this crazy circle…
Thanks…
