Top 3 Web Distractions – Which One Gets You the Most?
The greatest lesson I’ve learned about making money online and optimizing your time is that you have to guard your Internet time like a hawk and KEEP your focus like nobody else.
If you’re not doing this, nobody else will.

Nick at Internet Babel lists 5 distractions:
- MSN Messenger
- Google News
- Wikipedia
- YouTube
- Google Video
In my experience, the TOP 3 web distractions that keeps me (and everybody else, including you) from focusing on our tasks and activities which produces direct or in direct income are these:
E-mail – checking and answering e-mails
Unless you’re getting paid to do this, or talk with someone who pays you for doing that (e.g. a client), then e-mail is a waste of time, in 99% of the cases.
SKYPE – online chatting or phone calling
Unless you’re not getting paid to chat or phone call, then you’re missing the real money.
(Internet) Stats checking – page browsing
Checking your Internet earnings, site traffic details or (RSS/e-mail) subscriber counts is a total waste of time, unless you’re getting paid for doing that.
I get trapped into this TASK almost daily and it’s a shame.
e.g. checking Analytics, AdSense, Aweber, etc.
BONUS Tip – sometimes I spent a few hours per month browsing through YouTube and watching my favorites music or some movie trailers.
My time is valued at $100, so spending 5 hours/month on YouTube is a $500 waste.

Hint – in order to avoid wasting time on useless tasks, I make sure to optimize it and track most of my activities using Rescue Time which is free and a must have if you’re serious about running a high-profit business model.
